As composed as she is calm and enthusiastic, Sabine is a smiling young 32-year-old. What led her to become a project engineer? An industrial engineering master’s in electromechanics, a first vocational experience and, above all, a wish to work both on developing projects in theory and on putting them into practice on the field.
On mission up to November 2017 for ENGIE Cofely at the Eurocontrol company, this Syngenia consultant explains what drives her.
- What do you like about your profession as a consultant?
There are a lot of things that I appreciate in my job. Working together with the various actors, such as the clients, staff, experts, outside service providers and so on. But also the diversity of the projects and the fact that I work on several projects at the same time. I also like alternating between office work and being out in the field. You have to juggle with the managerial and technical aspects of it and prove that you can be highly adaptable. And that really suits me.
- What are your driving forces?
I love to gain new knowledge and skills. In relation to the missions that I realize, but also on the human level thanks to the collaborations which are developped during these missions. Also, I’m always keen to get the types of training that enable me to broaden my skills. Syngenia organises a number of courses and I’m always pleased to take part of it.
- Are you happy to have become part of a group like ENGIE?
It’s a real boost for somebody who’s as passionate about energy as I am. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been looking to understand the main facets of the various kinds of energy, such as how they’re produced, transported and distributed. Being in a group that deals with several types of energy is very enriching. I hope I’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of services.
- What are your challenges for today and tomorrow?
I’m constantly trying to improve and to create solutions. To me, that’s the real challenge. I think you should always be aiming further ahead. Later on, I’d also like to head up a structure and manage every aspect of it. Maybe even create my own business.
